  • Rich of Observationz,

a comfortable bar, with food and toilets and seating

Have they upgraded? Last time I was there. it was a traditional NZ prolehole, with racing, pokies and dead-eyed derelicts. And those were just the staff from Vodafone next door...

I think they kicked the regulars out for the evening :-)

Although it's becoming more common for the sports bar to be used as an overflow or lounge. It's quite comfy.

Speaking of kicking people out of pubs. I couldn't resist the oppurtunity to put in this beauty

  • Lilith __,

That Cars video really is strange! The boobies (and moobies) are the least peculiar part.

  • Alan Perrott,

have to say I'm slightly dubious about that Critics Award. not wanting to dismiss the qualities of Watercolours but I think the makeup of the panel always made the outcome more likely than not. good luck to them though...

and while not really related to anything except maybe all things hobbity, I stumbled over this track by Brit psych outfit the Soundcarriers featuring a spoken word ramble by Elijah Wood.

Kinda groovy in a 60s UFO stylee with matching graphics

Does anyone else find that the embedded the audience player stops shortly into songs and pops up a wee error message saying to try again later? Been doing it for me consistently for a few weeks.

Huh, just heard Estere interviewed on RDU. She seems cool. I like that she works most creatively in her PJs. :-)

Yeah, they added a certain edginess to the proceedings. There could hardly have been three more contrasting performance styles on the night. And Russell is right, Beach Pigs really brought it.

It's actually only a re-edit, so the sounds you hear are the sounds on the 1976 album -- it's just restructured and remastered.

It's an incredible track -- and the lyrics (about drug addiction and temptation) are compelling too. I need to go on an Esther Phillips mission.

  • Russell Brown,

You know when I said that Cars video was weird? I meant the new video for 'Fatty Boom Boom' by Die Antwoord, featuring Lady Gaga:

    Jesus.
