  • reece palmer,

You know what? (maybe, but I'll tell you anyway) Working in retail and hospitality while at uni just about destroyed my christmas spirit, it's almost back to the stage where I'll bother typing christmas with it's capital C but it was nasty. Some of thge things perpetrated upon and by the public were just... well lets just say they were not and leave it at that. Did you know that for six weeks I was forced while working at Liquor King Greenlane to listen to the same four christmas carol cd's on constant rotate for 8 hours plus per day. After six weeks of that as well as peoples insane demands (christmas really places undue pressure on people) I just wasn't interested. Sometimes companies can be really crass in their pursuit of a buck, whine whinge bah humbug etc etc. Christmas (hey capital!) is beginning to make a comeback for me because its become real again with my class and secret santa et al. It's not about whoring yourself to get screwed for a bonus by unrealistic budgets set by people who drive while intoxicated from store to store to give pep talks. Perhaps if they had to listen to the carols too?As for apartments for nouveau riche whitey, build em to relect their potential inhabitants, cheap and nasty.

My point was that crash pads for rich folks don't exactly represent or facilitate a diverse and vibrant street life. Case in point: the stone-dead streets around the old vege market, by the Viaduct.

And your ebonics is terrible ...

  • reece palmer,

No it's far more likely a slum or downmarket neighbourhood will do that so give it a few years...

  • Andrew Wilson,

How did 'numpty' get onto the word list? I got accused of being one here in Scotland and was so confused I nearly forgot to ask what it was I'd just been called.

And don't let the internet know 'truthiness' is there - Colbert fans got a bridge in Hungary and a Canadian ice hockey mascot named after him on web polls :)

  • Felix Marwick,

Guilty as charged on numpty. I put it there. It seemed appropriate as there's been a heap of them about this year.

It was either that or fuck-knuckle and I didn't want to lower the tone (too much)
