  • Andrew G,

Still, I wish Ladyhawke aka Pip Brown all the very best (her singles are good revisionist fun), even if I wonder whether, rightly or wrongly, her international career may go the same way as the Datsuns- i.e. a brief, bright spark only to come crashing down when the press moves onto the next fad. She came accross as a top sort at the awards, though. Good for her.

You couldn't hold that against her. 90% of all artists in her position suffer this, especially in England. She's already achieved more than most (if I remember rightly, NME listed 3 or4 of her songs in their top 50 songs of 2008?).
They are good pop songs regardless of the 80's sound. Change the production and the songs would still work.

  • conseismal,

Swing low sweet chariot, come down easy
    Taxi to the terminal zone;
Cut your engines, cool your wings,
And let me make it to the telephone.

Los Angeles give me Norfolk Virginia,
    Tidewater four ten O nine
Tell the folks back home this is the promised land callin'
And the poor boy's on the line

i crash parties and maseratis feels kind of.. like a broken line
compared to that which gave one the compulsion and purely rhythmic rationale to rhyme and get rhyming in the .. first place..

  • bronwyn,

<quote>This is all grist to my 'Dolly: She's So Underappreciated!' mill. (One of my ambitions is to go to Dollywood and buy ridiculous tchotchkes.</quote)>

A bit late on this one Danielle, but can I get a badge for the Dolly Appreciators Club too?

Apparently Dollywood takes on casual people to work there over summers.

Tempting, but I've got my heart set on a job at DobbynWorld when it opens.

Ideally, on the yacht racing ride (NZ *always* wins) or the Flood Rescue.
