  • Snelly Boy,

Bad news Russell, MGMT are touring Aussie in Dec. Can't see them turning around to come back a month later to do the BDO tour.

On that point, where are all the NZ promoters?

Australia has for some time now been enjoying an endless supply of quality acts that no one here is piggy backing on.

I appreciate venues are an issue here but it just seems like good business opportuntiies lost e.g. Paul Weller just last month. Perhaps I should contemplate a career change?

Anyone wanting to see MGMT - www.red
circletickets.com. Yes, a tout but I can vouch for them as being dependable. Tom in their Sydney office will go out of his way to look after you. Tickets currently $190.

  • Jose Barbosa,

Frontline however, now that's gold standard.

Amen. From the stories I've heard regarding TV current affairs jornos and how they go about their business it's not satire, but a very good documentary.

  • jon_knox,

I saw Neil for the first time earlier in the year. I hope he does a couple from his acoustic set in addtion to some more of the traditional BDO fare.

Big-Ups to Jose for that interview with the dude from Black Books last year. That interview is one that I hope I never forget.

  • JohnAmiria,

On that point, where are all the NZ promoters?

Australia has for some time now been enjoying an endless supply of quality acts that no one here is piggy backing on.

Most of the NZ promoters are now really just front offices for the Aussies, working on percentage deals, or a flat fee. The Aussies often secure the Australasian rights and can't be arsed sending 'em over. It's cheaper to add an extra show in Sydney or Melbourne than promote a single gig in NZ.

By and large NZ promoters are left with promoting NZ acts. Brent Eccles' most recent act was a Peter Urlich Dine N Dance combo...

I'm guessing CRS will be promoting the post-BDO Headless Chickens Tour ...

  • Grant McDougall,

<smug>I'm superb at remembering people's names and faces. I can bump into someone I haven't seen in years and not only remember their name, but also details about their interests, etc</smug>

The only thing I am crap at remembering is jokes. I hear loads of good ones and am rubbish at remembering them.

Russell, regarding John Collie, at least you didn't really put your foot in your mouth and call him "Wayne Elsey" or be seen as winding him up and calling him "Andrew Brough".

As for The Fast Women, they will, with a name like that, have to play 'She Speeds'.
