  • James Green,

I wouldn't do that to you! I'll take the file off later today.

I was impressed with the speed of its arrival. And was just about to dust off my transcoding software!

Exporting video is a curious business. It can be hard to strike a balance between file size and quality. I did a couple of smaller files, but they made me unhappy ...

Please to be leaving it up until after work, thanks. Also many thanks for the Watson Twins. I had a re-listen after the last time you mentioned them and they have grown on me

  • Russell Brown,

Also ... Springsteen made the freakin' inspired decision to kick off his Glasto set with a solo version of the late Joe Strummer's 'Coma Girl' (a song inspired by Glastonbury).

It's probably the only time he'll ever play that song. And the BBC kicked off its coverage with the second song.

    Jesus wept.

Did you try Divx? (or even Xvid for the linux gurus) I find that solution works well in terms of size and quality.

    You flatter yourself.

Though I suppose the only flattery you'll get around here is your own.

What part of "you're not welcome" do you fail to grasp?

DUNEDIN PUBLIC ADDRESS MEET-UP THIS EVENING!!

All Public Address readers in Dunedin are invited to have a yarn and a few drinks this evening.

Meet at Ironic bar (opposite the railway station) at 5.30pm. See you there!

How come you guys in Dunedin get a meet-up, and those of us in Welly don't?

Yeh I'd have loved to have seen that. Also want Lily Allen's 'Smile' starting off as a reggae groove and morphing into the drum & bass version.

And all of Dizzee Rascal's set. Pleaassseee...

Windows native support for video codecs is pretty dire. I discovered to my chagrin that even a Sony video camera recording in the DVD standard MPEG2-TS isn't default in Windows Media Player.

Rocking in the freeworld is AVC1/AAC, and I think AVC1 is the same as h264, which I think is pretty good compression. But there are so many possibilities, it's very easy to get lost!

  • FletcherB,

Whereas Air New Zealand seems to think its a great idea. WTF?
I'm just counting down to the complaints.

    I went searching and found...

There's not much to complain about there.... I think it's actually quite well done?

Speaking as someone loosely connected to this...

The safety video and the related TV ad have been very well received and drawn few complaints from anyone.

The TV ad is up to 2,250,000 hits on YouTube, and has featured in media all around the world, garnering some great PR for the airline and NZ, and hopefully some record sales for Gin Wigmore.

Yesterday, the safety video was even on the front page of CNN.com

    As you were...

I think it's very well done. The Air NZ people (people, mind) look like they're wearing clothes. The Google woman (lovely lovely breasts aside) looks like she's wearing body paint.

And AirNZ are making a joke. "We have nothing to hide and we're naked, get it?" Everyone gets a little perve and away they go.

Whereas the Google girl was just a naked girl with advertising painted on her.
