Oh, also, I realise I left one thing out of the original post -- an invtation for ya'll to share your thoughts on what you'd like to see on PA (my time and budget permitting). So I've added that.

  • Ross Mason,

    GTT = Give to the.....

"Why do we tolerate, or perhaps even revel in, the smell of our own farts?"

How on earth would we recognise ourselves if we couldn't at least tolerate OUR aroma? Way back when I was a wolf in a prior life, pissing on the trees to mark my territory enabled me to stumble home after a late night......

Heh. Story - In another prior life wifey and I biked across Canada. Camped in a closed Prov Park close to Banff, cooked ham steaks and pineapple....yes I know....put our food bags away from the tent. I pissed into a plastic bag, diluted it a bit and spread it around the tent on about a 50m radius. We got visited by a bear. I chased it away. We survived. To this day I reckon it worked!!!

Why do we tolerate farts? Because otherwise we wouldn't have fart humour (the best kind) :)

  • Islander,

    Farts?
Smell of what you've been eating or drinking...
If you've had a night on cheap whisky & been eating titi & kangapirau & a heap of stir-fried puha & garlic & lovely rewena bread (been there/done that) your farts will seriously & wonderously stink.

BUT IT IS A HEALTHY STINK!

When people are seriously ill (especially with various cancers)their bowel motions & farts really smell...sickly. Icky. Unhealthy...

Been there, smelled that, with 2 family members...

“Why do we tolerate, or perhaps even revel in, the smell of our own farts?”

    Not everyone does.

I've got been given lot by Public Address (by which I mean our gracious host Russell, mostly). I'll find the credit card and put something in.

  • Russell Brown,

Can I also say that I inevitably go from vaguely embarrassed to immensely gratified whenever I have to do this.? One large donation from someone with an interest in topics I cover has really helped (thanks, you know who you are), but it's the multitude of small ones that truly make me happy.

I so appreciate this outlet for discussion and creativity that has the ability to stimulate healthy debate without descending into the petty abuse that seems to dominate most web based forums.

  • Liz Tan,

done with pleasure. thank goodness for PA, and for witty intelligent discourse that doesn't just become a shouting match of political ideology: my people are right, your people are wrong. and you like music!
