  • Blake Monkley,

Makes you mad enough to kick a ref doesn't it?

I kept thinking if he was competing in the javelin or shooting .......

  • Emma Hart,

I'm glad you mentioned Mitcham. I'd been talking about him with friends in the weekend, about the fabulousness of his reaction to his win.

    NBC said, in their defence;

Not every athlete has a personal discussion. I could show you 500 athletes we didn’t show. We don’t show everyone.

This is clearly bullshit. This guy was a story. If you were neutral on sexual orientation, then this guy's personal narrative (his depression, his reaction, his battle to have his partner with him financially, his winning when he wasn't 'supposed to', his belonging to a minority) was newsworthy.

  • Shep Cheyenne,

Not all the shots were pervy, bum shots aside, some of the shots are of female athletes in competition. Beach Vollyball does need to allow variation to their uniform as any other field sport does.

Rhythmic Gymnastics was almost beyond belief in their physical abilities, syncro-swimming was odd but when I saw the finals I appreciated their strength and skill. I've done the egg-better in waterpolo but what these women were doing was brilliant.

TVNZ not even covering our third gold medalist, that is a bloody crime. Not having Sky if they cover the sports we're in rather than take the Chinese feed it just has to be better.
How bad can the camrea work get - anyone catch the waterpolo - why did they go so wide as to include the officials on the side of the pool rather than focus on the play in the pool. I was waiting for Georgia vs Russia as a repeat of the Hungary vs USSRwhen the pool was red with blood after USSR crushed the Velvet Revolution.

They are allowed to wear a one piece but most athletes stick with the bikini. But why they aren't allowed to wear shorts is beyond me.

During a discussion on the weekend it was decided that the men probably wear singlets so that there is a place to put their name and number.

  • Carolyn Skelton,

TVNZ Sport Extra showed the whole of the sailboarding gold medal live, while the TV One News was on, the replayed it quite soon after on TV One. How different would that have been if Sky was covering it? Except of course that Prime News is on earlier.

Sky doesn't have such a great record of showing live sports on Prime, or even replaying them that quickly.

  • Hadyn Green,

I really liked Mitcham. He was exuberant and clearly ecstatic to win, unlike some of the other competitors .

That'll go down like a cup of cold sick, as they say here. Aussies died in the arse, as they say here. Apparently, that tourism campaign was a disaster too... oddly, this hasn't been reported anywhere I've seen... yet!
