At least when Angela D'Audney (remember her?) got her tits out, it wasn't while reading the news, but during a rather creditable turn in a frothy bedroom farce.
And with all due respect to Sarah, just because you're doing something on the smell of an oily shoestring doesn't mean that standards don't exist. You'd think Oliver Driver of all people would know that, because I've seen productions he's been involved in where the quality of the work was in direct inverse proportion to the budget. (I'm also sure ATC and every other professional theatre company in New Zealand would kill for the level of state subsidy their equivalents receive in Europe.)
I don't expect AltTV to be as slick as the BBC or Al'Jazeera English or TVNZ, but there is a meaningful distinction between audio and picture quality being a little rough around the edges and plain shitty.

It was not my intent to participate in 'TVNZ bashing' - and I do realise it's a hobby of some which must become tiresome to your ears...
As for Oliver - I think he has an immense passion for story and media, and I often think this passion is misconstrued.I sought to put people's expectations of Alt's output in perspective. I am satisfied I did this in my previous comment, so have no further comparisons to make.
Yes, standards are there to be met (and superceeded) by the makers of the world's media. We at Alt, we'lll catch up. We just happen to think content should be the foremost concern, before form. Any lack, Craig, does not come from laziness or incompetence - but sheer stretched lack of resources. And we constantly strive to fix this, because just as it falls short of your mark of quality - it also isn't where we'd like things to rest either.
Damian, I myself did not catch the Midday report, and should have clarified that my earlier comment referred to the six o'clock bulletins on channels One and Three comparitively.
My concern for the quote to be sourced also stems far more from wishing the viewer to know the context of the original statement, rather than 'missed publicity', and I merely posit that it would be a sorry state of affairs if the source was omitted due to any 'cross channel' silliness.Like the caregiver of anything fledgling - I protect it with both fairness and ferocity.

Sarah, I've spent far too many years, overworked and underpaid, supporting bFM, Radio Active, George FM (which as Thane will tell you, I helped start, managed, PD'd etc for years) for my own good. The last thing I want to do is shit on the good work you guys are doing at Alt - and given the opportunity, I'd happily help promote it. What I don't appreciate is the BS that's been coming out from Alt via Driver recently about TVNZ/the mainstream and the work we do there. It seems to be one of Driver's rather tiresome hobbyhorses, and I sought only to put that in perspective.
I'm not sure about 6pm on One or 3, but I do know that almost everywhere I saw seemed to mention Alt with regard to Goff, so you shouldn't feel robbed there - and if it was, I seriously doubt it was because Alt is viewed as a competitor (as I say, they let me do a story about Alt on Close Up).
Having said that, in my experience, people will very rarely go back to the source or read the report or transcript to put things in context. Those people who do, and there's a few of them on this blog and elsewhere, are to be commended.
In that vein, seriously, please do keep going with what you're doing at Alt. What you have there is important and relevant. Like I say, many years doing current affairs at bFM tells me there are so many vaild reasons why you should be doing it. I just don't think anyone needs the BS that goes with it.
As to Craig's (and my) comments about form. These days, form does matter. If something sounds shitty, people are less inclined to listen to it. And sound is more important than picture, lighting etc. I know your main studio is a concrete floored, wide-open space with windows backing on to the CBD, it's never going to sound great. Perhaps the Frank interviews can be done elsewhere? They're obviously pre-recorded, so what about a smaller room? It's not about being a media snob, it's about being able to listen, easily, to what someone is saying.
