Cracker: Games to Play at the BDO #37: Tickle Me Emo

  • Russell Brown,

We were actually remarking on the day that there weren't nearly as many obvious emos as we thought there'd be. There seemed to be more t-shirts with rude slogans about emos than there were actual emos.

So they're rare. And what do you do, Damian? You find one and make the poor thing cry ...

  • andrew llewellyn,

"You find one and make the poor thing cry ..."

And all for the benefit of a photographer.

hey, reminds me... you guys seen this? (NSFW)

  • Damian Christie,

Yeah I didn't see half as many emos as I thought I might, but then again I was largely in R18 areas and/or not down the front for My Chemical Romance...

Llew: Yes, those photos seem all too for the benefit of a photographer: You think they called the press themselves?

I presume Ridgey got a nice wedge for his part in that. Or did it all go towards her boob job?

  • Damian Christie,

Oh, I forgot to mention the email I got from the BDO organisers the day before the BDO. Somewhat relevant now in the light of the whole Aussie flag debate. It said don't wear studded belts, studded collars, blah blah.. and the bit I thought was interesting:

"And think carefully about whether the slogan on your t-shirt might hurt someone’s feelings too. If it says “go cry, emo kid”, that really is quite mean."

Surely they're not that sensitive, are they?

Ummm yeah. none of those photos were taken with a long lens, I think No17 sums them up best.

Heh! Or is that just my dirty mind...? He's a class act! (Although, with Shane Warne's appearance not too long ago in these same pages (complete with risque slide show), we should be grateful that Ridgey doesn't favour playboy crested speedos.

  • Damian Christie,

Rogan: No I've never watched Mad TV. Guess I'm just obvious. Hmph. Like the time when my friend and I used the word smurfy for months to describe rude situations ("I totally smurfed on her smurf, then smurfed it off with my smurf...") only to see the exact same situation used on Family Guy ("Smurfette? Yeah, she smurfed me..."). Comedic morphic resonance perhaps?

NSFW doesn't seem to apply at TVNZ. We even ran those shots on Midday yesterday... only the directly 'full frontal' shots were blurred, which seemed odd given that the side-on shots were just as explicit. You can surely argue that if its on the news, then its got to be SFW...

Kim: Pics and stories will be forthcoming. There's some goodies!

  • Rogan Polkinghorne,

Maybe great minds think alike Damian?

Hang on, no that doesn't work; while Family Guy is without doubt one of the finest animated comedies ever to grace television, Mad TV is about as funny as herpes. And from what I've heard, that is not funny at all.

    Obvious it is then...
