Hard News by Russell Brown

It's not funny because it's our money

If you haven't seen this lamentable exchange in Parliamentary questions between Green Party MP Julie Anne Genter and Transport Minister Gerry Brownlee, you probably should. On the one hand, it's a fairly technical line of questioning on the Roads of National Significance project from Genter. On the other, it's a series of fatuous answers from Brownlee.

The government of which Brownlee is a part has made much of its intentions around quality spending and its stewardship of the public dollar. Brownlee's conduct makes it hard to credit such a boast.

The saddest thing is that Brownlee runs out of material at the end and has to trot out same, lame greenie jokes again. Brownlee seems to think it's funny. I can think of fourteen billion reasons why it isn't.
